At the age of 42, I retired from my life as an NYPD homicide detective to become a writer. In the years since I’ve landed a literary agent. Shopped a novel. It didn’t sell. My agent and I split. I co-wrote a TV project that almost sold. Wrote a better novel. Signed with another agent. That novel—yep—almost sold. Wrote a third (fourth? Fifth?) novel. It’s out with editors now. Though I haven’t had the big breakthrough, publishing’s been a ride and an education.
Creativity demands interrogation (see what I did there?). A Second Act is where I examine how the process brings fulfillment. Hopefully.
